Stone Sanctum
Summary
The Stone Sanctum is an old stone cathedral in the hamlet of Everdale, above the King’s Tourney on the hill. Unlike the whitewashed and painted buildings around it, it is bare stone, dark with age, and covered at its base in vines and moss. A bell hangs from its tower. The main entry opens onto a campus, and beyond the chapel building a cemetery occupies the grounds. Source: 2026.05.12.
Description
The interior is dim and musty—pews empty, candelabras unlit. The sign etched into the entry wall reads Stone Sanctum. A heavy door opens with an eerie creak. Iron candelabras line the walls, and stained glass windows look out toward the graveyard. Source: 2026.05.12.
Events
- The party was led here by Azrith’s supernatural senses and a high investigation roll (23) after Gruvelda Duskbelt told them that nobles had been seen meddling with magic in the hamlet cemetery.
- Inside the chapel, a scrap of green fabric caught on an iron candelabra was identified by Azrith as likely torn from Jevon’s cloak, confirming Jevon had been brought here.
- In the graveyard, Odine Dunmere found Jevon bound in rope and tied to a cherubim statue, unconscious and bloodied. A dead black knight lay nearby. A second knight, possessed by an undead spirit (a ghoul), attacked the party.
- The possessed knight was defeated by the party; as the armor fell, a spectral form said “I submit, I must go” and dissipated.
- The dead knights were identified by Cassian as House Godran foot soldiers.
- Two House Godran bodies now lie in the graveyard. Source: 2026.05.12.
Notes
- Gruvelda Duskbelt’s clan has heard rumors that some noble groups among the humans have been “messing around up in the hamlet, on the hill, in the cemetery.”
- The Oathkeepers patrol the streets of the hamlet but apparently have not investigated the Sanctum themselves.
- The ghost that possessed the knight submitted willingly once defeated, suggesting these spirits may not all be malevolent by nature.
